Past Simple

We use the Past Simple to talk about finished actions or situations and habits.

 He climbed the stairs and went to his room.
 He always phoned me on Mondays.

In this tense we add -ed to infinitive (ending -y changes to -ied) or we use the past form of irregular verbs. In questions or negative sentences we use the infinitive and did or didn't.

 Did you see the match last night?
 We didn't like the play. It was so boring!
